Blast from the Past 2: Little Big Adventure 2

There are lots of things that make a game great and memorable. Things like iconic graphics, epic storylines, funny memories or just nasty parts you keep repeating because it's so damn hard. In my experience, music has always played a very important part in the experience pf games. And I've got to say, this game has the most epic and fantastic score in the whole world of gaming.

True, it may be outdated when you look at it now, but it's still a keeper. Little Big Adventure 2, or simply LBA2, puts you in the role of Twinsen for the second time. I didn't play LBA1 well enough, but luckily part 2 doesn't need you to know the first part. It's pretty stand-alone.
When, at the beginning of the game, your flying dino-friend crashes in the garden and you will have to perform the "simple" task of getting him some medicine, you will take your first steps to a greater cause.

So many places!
The thing I liked most besides the music was the fact that you play through so many locations with so many different species. You encounter hostile and friendly species on more then 10 huge locations. Now 10 may not be big if you look at todays games. But it was back then. And it still quite is.
I'm talking about a vast desert with hacienda's, small towns, secret coves and an underground airfield.
Things like that make the mind of a young boy go crazy.

"Say hello to my little friend!"
How cute it may look, this game also holds some great weapons. Where you start with a simple ball, you will find yourself cutting through guards with a golden sword later. Darts, blowguns and laserguns, they're all there. And getting them was a hard task to perform, making you feel like you had really achieved something.
Together with some nice secret goodies, Twinsen had the option of choosing between 4 moods all with their own unique ability. Normal would allow you to walk normal and sit down once in a while, Sporty would allow you to run and jump very far, Discrete would allow you to sneak and take cover and Agressive would allow Twinsen to uppercut his way to the truth!

The thing is, I still have the soundtrack on my iPod and listen to it every week. It's just that good. When I hear those nice tunes from the vast wastes of Desert Island, it makes me want to grab a towel and head over to the sauna hacienda for some re-lax-ation!

Sad thing is, is that this game is so old, you're gonna either need XP or some lower OS to play it. That's why I need to go to school in order to play it every year.
And did you know that there was a part 3 coming? Only SEGA, who bought Adeline, the studio, fired the people in order to make their success of "Shadow The Hedgehog". Yeah that's right; another great idea down the drain because of a bad game. MANY fans were pissed... even I.
Even Sonic-fans didn't understand it. But I guess the possibilty of having a part 3 is just as likely as Tim Burton making a film of Grim Fandango - awesome, but not gonna happen.

Be sure to check it out!

It is, and it's suprisingly epic. Gameplay is easy to learn, hard to master, but it gets VERY tricky during the end. But because you get sucked into the story, you don't notice..
